Losing Normal wins SCBWI SPARK award

In February, Losing Normal was announced as the winner of the 2019 SPARK award, presented by the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators.
The SCBWI email announcement: “Congratulations!! You have won this year’s SPARK Award in the Novel category. The judges were very impressed with LOSING NORMAL. The professionalism and quality of the writing is an exceptional example for self-publishing.”
I get a bunch of stickers (see above) to put on book covers, free admission to this summer’s conference in LA, a table at the con to sell books, and some other cool stuff.
I don’t know what this award means–it ain’t the Pulitzer, or the LA Times Book award–but it makes me happy. As I said in my newsletter, I haven’t got many awards. I won a fan poll for the best episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Phyllis & I (with Gayl, a friend) won last year’s Foundation for Adult Literacy Spelling Bee.
Will the award generate some sales? One can only hope.
