Mil-tree eat 'n read

Last Saturday, July 13, Mil-Tree, the organization founded by Cheryl Montelle to support active duty & military veterans, held a fundraiser dinner at a local restaurant, the Country Kitchen. Cheryl invited me and Carla Sameth to read from our books (mine: Losing Normal; Carla’s, One Day on the Gold Line).

I was briefly a facilitator for the Mil-Tree writers’ group, and, although I didn’t feel the group was useful as a therapeutic tool, it did provide vets, active duty and a few civilians a good outlet for their writing.

The place was full, the lasagna was good and I think Mil-Tree made some money and got some visibility.
